Social Marketing - Tool or Toy? - Resource or Recreation? - Wonderful or Worthless?

I think you get the idea... as business owners, our time is precious. Do we run the risk of spending too much time for too little gain on the social marketing scene? Have you put 'safeguards' in place to manage your time? Which portals do you use for work and which for play?

Technology was introduced to us initially as a time saving device. I think that we would all agree that it has become as much entertainment and diversion as it had ever been time saving. How do you ensure that technology can operate as a tool when you need, without missing out on all of the 'shiny stuff'?
